PPOC National Student Competion 2021

The Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) is a National (with Provincial branches) organization of photographers that offers membership, accreditation, competitions and education. This past Winter the PPOC hosted its annual image competition. The PPOC National Student Competition is judged in conjunction with the PPOC National Image Competition.

This year our students had a very strong showing with 9 images from 7 students being accepted into the final collection of 28 images. Two of our students were nominated for awards with one of them winning. Rafaella Roriz is the proud recipient of the “Best of Category - Portrait Student Award” that was sponsored by LEE Filters. You can see her award-winning portrait below.

The images that the students submit are judged anonymously by a panel of judges who critique the images and assign a designation of one of the following: Not Accepted, Accepted, Merit and Excellence. These are defined on their website as follows:

From those submitted images deemed worthy of inclusion in the final Salon Exhibition, those which stand above the rest are awarded scores of Merit, and the small number which are deemed to be truly exceptional images are awarded the prestigious score of Excellence.

Our students received 1 Excellence, 2 Merits, and 6 Accepted images. Congratulations are definitely in order to all of the students whose images were selected.

You can view all of the images in the gallery below.
